Late this past week Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills made his first visit home to Michigan since getting injured by an IED in Afghanistan this past April. He lost part or all of his four limbs in the explosion.
Having the chance to talk with him and spend some time with his family was without a doubt the highlight of my time here, so far. He's one of the most genuine people I have ever met, and his positivity and great attitude rub off on you in the best way. I could tell he truly cherished being there for his wife, Kelsey, and their 1-year-old daughter, Chloe, and vice versa.
The reporter covering this, Erica, did a fantastic job with all the craziness in those couple of days. Her one on one with Travis really captures what I'm having a hard time explaining. There are also tons of other stories she wrote on the parade that welcomed him home, the Vassar community coming together, and the homecoming game he attended and spoke at on Friday. Give them a look.
I posted a few favorites from the parade, bonfire and the short time I got to spend at his parent's house before the football game. Thanks for looking.
